the one with ZTA and ATO

On Saturday, Brian and I decided to go explore Virginia since we just have a few months left in this state! We drove across the state to the Blue Ridge Mountain to visit Lexington, home to Washington & Lee University and Virginia Military Institute. Part of the reason for going was to see the Blue Ridge, part to see Lee Chapel where Robert E. Lee is buried, and part to see the birthplace of ATO. Brian's fraternity was founded at VMI and had this cool fountain and plaque commemorating the frat.

After we left Lexington, we drove to see Appomattox Courthouse, which is where Robert E. Lee surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant. Brian was excited to see a little piece of history (and you know how much he loves his history). Then we drove to Farmville, VA to see Longwood College where my sorority was founded. After seeing the ATO fountain, I was expecting something equally grand from my ZTAs. No such luck. They had a sign that recognized the four sororities that were founded at Longwood, including ZTA. Two of the other sororities had their own benches or fountains, but Zeta didn't have anything special. I did find a few crowns painted on the sidewalk, but who knows if Zetas put them there. I was a little disappointed, but it was still fun to see the place where it started.
