the one with a fall weekend

This weekend, in spite of the not-so-fall weather, I embraced the season. On Friday night, I went with Brian to Hallowscream at Busch Gardens (the theme park here). The park has been ranked as one of the prettiest in the country and it deserves the ranking! The whole park was decorated for Halloween and had several haunted houses set up. Each one had a different theme and included a lot of scarily dressed people who would jump out at you or make noises or try to scare the crap out of you. I think one of the creepiest parts was walking down this mirror lined hallway with creepy lights and seeing other people stare out at you. Creepy. They also had people throughout the park dressed in scary clothes who would creep up behind you or follow you. I was proud of myself for not being a huge chicken. We also rode some of the big roller coasters, at least until we started feeling sick. It was a fun night!

Saturday was one of the best fall days ever. We rode the ferry across the James River to a farm in Surry County where you can pick your own pumpkin from the pumpkin patch!! We took Latte and she thought getting to run around like a banshee was heavenly. They have so so many kinds of pumpkins: jack-o-lantern ones, tiny baby ones, pie pumpkins, huge white ones, striped ones and Cinderella pumpkins. We took our time finding the perfect pumpkins for carving. We also got a few pie pumpkins and we're going to try to make a pumpkin pie from scratch. As in from the pumpkin. We'll see how that goes. And we got several small ones for decorating. I can't wait to pick out my carving design for my perfect pumpkin. I haven't carved a pumpkin in years!!

Sunday started with a (free!) pumpkin spice latte on the way to a day in DC! We ate some pei wei, walked around the city, browsed a new exhibit at the art museum, and did some reading by a fountain. Okay, so none of those things are very "fall" specific, but at least I had a PSL to start it off!!

Cheers: to getting married 5 months from today! and to getting 2 magazines in the mail on Saturday! and to heading to Chicago in 4 days!

Jeers: to needing to write a paper and study for the upcoming ethics exam for the bar!
