the one with a mini-reunion and a really fun weekend!

Two of my very best friends, Kasey and Emily, came to visit me last week! We had three full days of catching up and hanging out. On Thursday and Friday, we hung around Williamsburg seeing the sights: Jamestown Settlement, Yankee Candle Factory, Colonial Williamsburg, Cheese Shop and some shopping (of course)!! Our days revolved around food: we would decide where to eat lunch as we were eating breakfast. We managed to fit in 3 hours of Baylor Sing DVDs, some homemade queso like old times, a late-night Kirk Franklin sing-a-long, and a long game of Phase Ten!

Then on Saturday we got up really early for a day of fun in DC. Kasey had never been before so we promised her a whirlwind overview of the city. Luckily we had the most gorgeous weather - clear and in the 70s. Our first stop on the tour was a real live protest! We happened to be there on the day of a huge anti-war protest marching from the White House to the Capital. The people were CRAZY, so we found some pro-Bush anti-protesters to stand near. We kept running in to the protesters all day and even saw some of them getting arrested by the Capital!

We also saw the Archives, the Air & Space Museum, the highlights from the American History Museum, the White House, Supreme Court building, Union Station, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and WWII Memorial. Plus an unwanted tour of China Town when we were searching for a dinner spot. It was a long day and we were all a little grumpy at times, but it was really fun too!

The girls left Sunday morning and Latte is still looking for them. She thinks they came just to play ball with her. I've been catching up on sleep and homework and dealing with my first big editing assignment for the Journal. And my To Do list just keeps getting longer!!

Cheers: to making a delicious pizza with fresh basil from my basil plant
Jeers: to my friend's car getting towed from my apt complex because she parked in the wrong place
