Last night I did something pretty cool. I went canoeing on the York River at night! The tour left at dusk, which is right when the sun sets and it starts to get dark. There were seven other canoes with our tour and two guides. We canoed for a while and then we would stop all our canoes in one spot to talk about the stars and the constellations. It was incredible how many stars you could see! It was a little unnerving to be paddling a canoe in the dark - we could just see the canoe in front of us - and we had a few incidents with steering (they usually included me yelling something like "Brian DO NOT steer me into the marsh again!!"). Other than getting a little sick from the motion and the smell of the marsh, it was a really fun experience.
Today we drove up to DC - mainly so that I could eat at Pei Wei! We drove by the Iwo Jima memorial because we just watched Flags of our Fathers last weekend. Then we walked around for a while and went to the art museum before heading back home. We're lucky to live so close that we can go to DC for day trips. I'm going to miss that when we get back to Texas next year.
Cheers: my carpet looks super clean!
