Oh man, I love holiday eating. Earlier this week Brian and I want to Texas de Brazil for lunch and my digestive system still hasn't recovered. For those who don't know, its a brazilian steakhouse. First you load up on an amazing salad bar. Then they bring out cheesey rolls (similar to the cheesey biscuits at Red Lobster) and then you flip over this little card to the green side and the meat starts coming. Waiters wearing pirate-looking pants (one bore a striking resemblence to Orlando Bloom) stop by your table with long sword-like skewers of meat. And they keep coming till you turn your card to red. Parmesan crusted chicken. Garlic top sirloin. Flank steak. Austrian sausage. Leg o lamb (I passed on that one). I have never felt like more of a carnivore.
Then tonight we went to Abacus, which is a trendy/swanky place in uptown. Its one of those restaurants where the plates are white and everything is swirled with some sort of colorful sauce and sprinkled with a contrasting spice. We started with fancy martinis and lobster shooters, which was sort of like taking a shot of lobster in an orange sauce. Sounds bizarre, which it was, but it was also super yummy. Then we had a crab cake. Then BJ got buffalo and I had salmon. For desert we had chocolate cakey donuts (yes, donuts) and an eggnog float. Very creative, fancy, out-of-my-league dining. The bill was outrageous....$155 for the two of us.
BUT the best part about both meals is that they were FREE!!! And not free because Brian paid for my half. But completely free except for the tip!! Brian got both giftcards during his stint at the hotel and they expired at the end of the year, so we picked this week to pig out. I can't imagine having room for turkey dinner on Christmas.
Cheers: to ugly Christmas sweaters and getting to see friends!!
Jeers: to still not being done shopping and to family members who claim not to want anything this year

Can't wait for the ugly sweaters tonight! Ryan and I are pumped to look our most obnoxious! :) Oh, and speaking of eating like a queen... my dad took us to Lawry's Prime Rib last night. Oh. My. Gosh. I am still full and don't think I'll ever eat again... well until Kobe Steak House on Christmas Eve.
Love ya!
Ive been catching up on your blogs! I miss reading them, i'm going to get better at it. I'm glad Brian is moving close and don't worry about your mom and marriage. Things will be great and I'm proof that you can be 23, married and very happy! You do what you want!!! Have a happy New year! Miss ya.
I just finished the new Grisham book and it was a little different but still quite good! It's sad to think that innocent people are on death row!! If you care, I highly recommend it!
