the one with adventure, art and edamame

It all started Friday in class wtih a craving for edamame and Pei Wei. But there isn't a Pei Wei within 50 miles of the Burg. So I convinced Brian to drive 2.5 hours to D.C., which has one of the only Pei Weis north of the Carolinas. We decided to make a day of it. We left around 9 on Sunday morning, after grabbing some coffee. We parked outside the city and took the Metro in. We were a little unprepared for how cold and windy it was in the city, so we spent most of the afternoon in museums. We wandered around the Air & Space Museum and saw a few of the American history items on display there while the history museum is being renovated. The coolest one was seeing Carrie Bradshaw's laptop from Sex & the City!! Then we walked around the National Gallery of Art for a while.

We decided to spend the rest of our time in this way cool Starbucks on DuPont Circle. Then we caught the metro back to our car. The only hitch was that the metro was undergoing repairs so we had to wait for 30 min on a platform in the cold for a shuttle to take us to the next stop where our car was...and I had to go to the bathroom!! We finally got to the car, drove another 20 minutes, and saw the Pei Wei sign, like a beacon in the night. I order chicken fried rice and edamame (of course). You know how good food tastes when you're starving? It was like that. Everything was absolutely perfect and delicious. Totally worth the 2.5 hour drive.

We made it back to the Burg last night around midnight (we missed our exit at one point because we were too busy trying to name all the states each of us had been to). I'm exhausted today, and have a lot of work to do to catch up, but it was so worth it. If you live in Texas, or anywhere with a Pei Wei, make sure you appreciate it. You don't know how good it is till you can't have it.

Cheers: to 4 more days until spring break!
Jeers: to another week without Greys
