the one with thanksgiving

I had a great weekend (or really almost a week) at home for thanksgiving. I flew home Tuesday afternoon with Latte. As always, she was the center of attention in the airport. People are just so curious when you fly with a dog, and kids always want to play with her. My goal for the weeked was to relax and I definitely accomplished it (with the exception of a minor breakdown Sunday afternoon). Brian treated my to some Paciugo's icecream and we watched Crash, which neither of us had seen and both of us liked.

Wednesday I helped my mom with some cooking (the dressing and a chocolate pie), ate lunch with my sister at Corner Bakery, and picked up my Maw from the airport. Maw said she came to town just to see me! Nothing like a grandmother to spoil you with comments like that. Brian and I went to the mall for a little while that afternoon. I bought some really fun jewelry from White House Black Market. It was way too expensive and I'm still trying to rationalize it to myself, but I absolutely love it! After that, we got my ring cleaned at Bailey Banks and Biddle. It is so SPARKLEY!! I couldn't stop grinning at my bling. We ate dinner with the fam at BJs pizza...and of course pigged out on two pizzookies!! If you've never had one, it is a must! Gooey cookie topped with vanilla icecream. Mmmmm. We saw Happy Feet after that....love those cute little penguins. Want to adopt one as a buddy for Latte.

Thursday I was pretty lazy. I should have gone to Turkey Lunch with Brian's family, but stayed in my jammies to cook and chat with my Maw and mom instead. Before dinner, we played a game of Monopoly. That game always starts out so innocently...buy a few properties, collect a little money, spend some time in jail. And then your dad puts up three hotels and charges you a bazillion dollars and bankrupts you in two turns. I don't lose well in Monopoly, especially when my dad gets his game face on. He gloats better than anyone I know. Our feast was fabulous, except for my chocolate pie that never really became pie. More like chocolate soup. Oh well. After dinner we all sat around my parent's new fire pit outside. It was so perfect...such a pretty night with a nice fire. I tried to get everyone to join in for Kumbaya, but they weren't interested. I finished off the night by (almost) whooping my sister and her friend in Disney Scene-It. If the game didn't ask questions about Lilo & Stitch or Hunchback of Notre Dame, Brian and I would have kicked those two kids to the curb.

Friday I had lunch at the Galleria with Brian, his grandma, his cousin and her boyfriend. Super fun. We did a tiny bit of shopping afterward with no luck anywhere. Then we watched 007 with my family. By the way, the new Bond is a hottie. Then we raced over to watch Santa and the Rockettes!!! I LOVED it. The show got me all pumped about Christmas time!! AND I got to see Sara Banks, who happened to have tickets for the same night!!

Saturday, the Caldwell kids ventured to the mall with Maw. She spoiled us rotten and we had a fun time letting her. We were especially amused by the latest winter fad...those hats with the ear flaps. Scott and I tried on some plaid ones that should only be worn by hunters in Montana. I finally hit the books that afternoon at Starbucks. After one last dinner with Maw (and a few Margaritas), Brian and I got in the hot tub at my house. So relaxing for a study-weary body.

Sunday I went to church and then got to see Brian's new house! They're moving to Frisco this weekend and their new house is really nice. His mom is excited because there is a huge park behind their house for her GRAND KIDS. Yikes. She's going to have to wait a while for that one...I mean we don't even have a wedding date set yet! After my afternoon oh-my-gosh-finals-are-coming breakdown, we had dinner at Pei Wei, watched some Grey's Anatomy and got back in the hot tub.

Now I'm back in Virginia searching for motivation to study study study. If you find any motivation lying around, please send it to the burg.

Pro: my cute yankee candle with a snow man topper
Con: Latte is still in Texas on vacay and I miss her
