I have been so blessed this semester with the girls who live near me in the apartment complex. There are four other single girls with small dogs and we have all become pretty good friends. There's Brenna and her white schnauser Brie. Brenna works for a hotel nearby and moved in at the end of last year when Brie was just a puppy. Next is Heather and her tiny poodle mix Dante. Heather is a 1L at William and Mary so we get to whine about classes together and I pass on my wisdom as a 2L. Dante is exactly the same size as Latte and they have a crush on each other (Dante even tries to hump her, but Latte is so innocent she doesn't know what he's doing). Then the other Heather with her lapsa apsa Molly. This Heather is also a law student (a 3L) and we have two classes together. Her dog Molly is scared of Latte. Finally there is Jenny and Macie. Jenny is a high school english teacher who is SO nice. We have the same sense of humor and like the same shows so we're planning a tv night with our dogs. Macie and Latte love to race each other up and down the green belt behind our building. These girls are so fun and our dogs love to play together. Plus, we trade advice on vets and toys and training....and Grey's Anatomy and Panera Bread and where to shop. It is fabulous.
Saturday morning, Latte dragged me out of bed at 7:30 to go outside. I didn't even put on my glasses or pull my hair back because I wasn't expecting to see anyone. Wrong. Jenny and Macie were already outside and within 2 minutes, Heather and Dante came out. All of us girls were in jammies with bed hair. Its nice to have someone who really understands the joys of having a dog who doesn't want to sleep in on Saturday mornings!
I'll try to get a picture of the puppies next time they play together. Other than getting to know the girls and the dogs, school is just rolling along. I'm working on a huge research paper - the constitutionality of the death penalty for repeat child sex offenders - what a fun topic. Fall is definitely settling in on the Burg. Its so crisp and cool in the morning and evening. Last night I could even see my breath! It's almost time to pack up my tank tops and get out my sweaters...almost.
Cheers: to Meredith coming to visit, to making new friends, to Brian getting a job interview in DC (YES!!!)
Jeers: to always managing to forget one key ingredient when I go grocery shopping
