the one with a whirlwind

Wow, the last three weeks have flown by! I have been back from Berlin for a week now and so much has happened. I will do a final post on my trip blog and post pictures soon. Here's how the last week looked:

Sunday - arrived back in Big D after a looooong day of travel

Monday - packed, shopped, hung out with Brian

Tuesday - packed, ate Mexican food, said goodbye to Brian's fam and mine

Wednesday - loaded the car, ate my last Whataburger, and headed out with my mom and Latte to Virginia. We made it as far as Jackson, Mississippi, with a stop in Louisiana for dinner at McAlisters (I was thinking about you, Julie!!).

Thursday - lots o driving. We listened to a murder mystery on tape as we headed across Mississippi, Alabama and South Carolina. We also ate at a BarBQ joint in Alabama where the owner LOVED my Johnny Cash t-shirt. We talked about the man in black while I waited for my food and he even brought the kitchen crew out from the back to see my shirt. So funny.

Friday - more driving! We made it across South Carolina and North Carolina to VIRGINIA!! It feels strange to say this, but I was glad to be back in Williamsburg. I actually smiled when we got stuck behind an idiot tourist who didn't know where she was going. I was so good to be back in my apartment! After living at home for three months in the guest bedroom, I am so happy to have my own place with all my own stuff again. I really missed it.

Saturday - all day training at school for my law journal. Boring, but really good to see everyone again and hear how their summers were. Afterward, my mom and I went to a delicious steakhouse. I don't eat a lot of red meat, but this steak was good!! And the waitress won points by commenting on how much she liked my engagement ring. That will never get old.

Sunday - more training. We've also done some stuff to my apartment - like buy plants for my porch and hang curtains (of course when my mom was in charge of the drill, everything went smoothly. For a refresher on my awful attempt at curtain hanging, see post from Sept 12, 2005). I also met a new girl in my apt complex. She is a young teacher who just moved here and also has a puppy!

Now I am reading for my classes tomorrow. I cannot believe I am about to start my second year of law school. And I cannot believe the summer is already over. Crazy.

Cheers: to Panera Bread opening in the Burg!!!!
Jeers: to school. Duh.

Cowboy dish is a mixture of canned corn, hamburger meat, tomato sauce, and ranch style beans. I was a little uncertain when Bobby first told me about it, but it's a nice "feels like home" meal. :)
