Long time, no post, huh? Here's the latest...
School: Exams FINALLY ended. It seemed to take forever. They mostly went well, but I'll be waiting for grades for another few weeks, so we'll see. The worst thing that happened was my computer freezing midway through my contracts final. I flipped out and cried in the dean's office, but it turned out okay. I had to handwrite the last half of my answer and then recover the part I had typed. It wasn't exactly the best way to end the year, but oh well, its over! I just can't believe I've made it through an entire semester, actually an entire YEAR of LAW SCHOOL. I have to admit, that I NEVER thought I would actually make it this far. But it's a good feeling to have gotten this far.
Hilton Head: A blast, even though it rained or was cloudy the entire time. The place we stayed was beautiful and the people were all really fun. While I was there I worked on my entry for the competition to get onto William & Mary's law review (a fancy journal). I had to read through 400 pages of research, write a paper, and do massive amounts of editing. All in all, I probably spent about 30 hours finishing that. When I finally mailed it off last thursday I was literally jumping around the UPS place because that was the LAST law school thing for the year!
Road Trip: Last Wednesday, Brian flew into Savannah and we headed to Texas! We ate in Atlanta and saw the CNN Center which was so cool. We got a little lost in downtown Atlanta and also in Birmingham, but it just added to the fun. We stopped in Oxford, Mississippi where brian's best friend and his wife live. They showed us around the campus of Ol' Miss. It's really a gorgeous campus with a lot of tradition. Not a bad college town at all and it was definitely good to see some friends. Then we headed to Memphis and then on to Little Rock. We stopped in Hot Springs, Arkansas, for a delicious brunch at an old diner there. We also had a contest to see who could stick there hand in the hot spring the longest. I lasted all of 4 seconds. That water was HOT. If you're ever in Arkansas, you should stop by because Hot Springs was one cute little town and Arkansas is MUCH prettier than I would have imagined. After that, it was straight on to Texas!! We finally found a Starbucks in Texarkana and that gave us the energy for the last few hours to Dallas. We played a little "20 questions" game and I had BJ stumped with hot air balloon and cactus ( : It's GREAT to be back in the Lone Star State. I almost cried when we crossed the state line!!! SOOOOOOO good to be home again!!
Work: I started on monday at my first job and they are definitely spoiling me!! There are 20 summer clerks in the Dallas office and we spend the first 2 and half days at the Four Seasons Resort with the clerks from Houston and Austin. We did a lot of team building stuff and it helped break the ice. I really feel like I made 19 new friends. We had amazing food and got to spend a little time relaxing. I met several attorneys from the office and everyone is SO nice. I love it. Today was my first official day on the job. I met my mentor, set-up my desk, learned how to use the computer, and got my first assignment! I spent a few hours doing research for an attorney who does employment work...I can't really say very much because of that whole attorney-client privilege thing, but lets just say there is a transvestite involved!! No joke.
Wedding: No news. But I know you're all curious, so thats the update on that.
All in all, the last few weeks have been SUPER busy and at times overwhelming. But the summer is shaping up to be very fun and very busy. I think I'm going to get a good glimpse at what its like to be an attorney and I'll know for sure whether or not its for me by the end. I have a suspicion that I'm going to love it. I'm so comforted by the fact that everyone I met is nice and normal and seems to have a life outside of work. Thats what I want. Now if I could just find time to get back on my workout plan....oh well, you can't have it all!!
